My backpacking background locales are a combination of Minnesota where
I have lived most of my adult life, and Arizona where I moved to take
a new job about three years ago. I have always been a
"comfort-weight" backpacker, never counting grams, but still keeping
my pack as light as easily attained. I carry a fair amount of
electronics into the backcountry including camera, GPS, iPod and often
a cell phone, and I'm always looking for ways to make the gear easy to
carry and protected, yet accessible.

Sorry for the delay in my edit. Just a few items to address and you're free to post in the appropriate folder. Please remember to delete your HTML file from the TESTS folder.

EDIT: <Manufacturer: Ahnu> - Ahnu is one of the brands of Deckers Outdoor Corporation. -- please list the manufacturer as Deckers Outdoor Corporation.

EDIT: <MSRP: not given> - the website lists these boots at $150 US -- please correct

Edit: <The website, which featured a review in Backpacker magazine> -- typically we do not reference other reviews. I suggest removing the reference to the Backpacker review.

EDIT: <Concerns about itheir lightness> - you've got an exta "i" before "their" -- please correct

Comment: for your pros and cons you might want to identify them as initial pros and cons and a statement that testing will prove whether your initial concerns are valid or not--especially related to durability, support/stability issues due to their light weight.

Enjoy the boots. See you in approximately two months.

My apologies for the lateness of the edit. Nice report, really like the photos. Once you've addressed the items listed below, ou're free to upload in the appropriate folder. Please remember to delete your HTML file from the TESTS folder.

Comment: interesting that you listed the measured weight at 1 lb 16 oz -- isn't that 2 lbs? You might consider simply stating they weighed in at 2 lbs.

Edit: <water-proof> - waterproof is not typically a hyphenated word -- please correct as you see fit.

Backpacking background:
My outdoor experience began in high school with involvement in a local canoeing/camping group called Canoe Trails. The culmination was a 10-day canoe voyage through the Quebec wilds. I've been backpacking since my college days in Pennsylvania, then for years in Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina and now mostly in the Sierra Nevada of California. Most of my trips are section hikes or loops from a few days to a week. I carry a mid-weight load, use a tent and hiking poles.

Test plan or strategy:
I often wear REI convertible pants for backpacking but am interested in

Regarding the women's pants, can you clarify which ones? I can't see any convertible ones only petite or regular pants and knickers.

I've been backpacking for over 30 years, all over California, Minnesota, and many western states. I hike year-round in all weather, and average 500+ miles (800+ km) per year. I make a point of using lightweight gear, and smaller volume packs. Doubting I can ever be truly ultralight, I try to be as light as I can yet still be comfortable. I start early and hike hard so as to enjoy the afternoons exploring/chilling. I usually take a freestanding tent and enjoy hot evening meals. Backpacking Background:

I have been backpacking for over 30 years, all over California, and in many of the western states and Minnesota. I hike year-round, and average 500+ miles (800+ km) per year. I have made a move to lightweight gear, and smaller volume packs. I start early and hike hard so as to enjoy the afternoons exploring. I usually take a freestanding tent and enjoy hot meals at night. If not hiking solo I am usually with my brother-in-law Dave.

Test plan

I have been wearing the Sahara convertible pant from REI for many years. I love convertibles as I like to hike

I'm clueless as to how I uploaded the IR without the changes I made. Thanks for catching it and I just checked and the proper file is there now.

 John,

I cannot see where you added a line about the space at the toes and your
email is still showing it is ready for harvesting!

Ralph,

Thanks for the edits. Thanks also for pointing out the e-mail. I can't
believe I've left that for so long. I added a line about the space at the
toes and will leave the comments about waterproofing for the FR. Deleted the
test file and uploaded just now.

See you in two months.
John
