Well, hem.... It took quite a long time, but yes, there is an automatism
for updating the page. An ugly cron job of mime uses another uglier 
script of mine to send the results daily.

First test was successful this morning.

For now, the cron job is deactivated, until a DW manager validate this 
bizarre practice.

If/when I reactivate the cron job, there are still 2 ways to prevent my 
script to write to doku site : deactivate the dedicated schplrtz.au 
dokuwiki account, or modify the script on teams:i18n:translation-check 
page; add anything, a space, a comment etc... If the script md5sum 
changes on DokuWiki site, my script will stop sending pages.

It's basically whenever you'd like to type in a given language, but a)
the characters of that language aren't on your keyboard, and b) your
OS doesn't have the required input method installed, or you don't know
how to activate it.

This is similar to the functionality Google offers e.g. on Google in
Hindi (but without the on-screen keyboard, so far):

The German input method is a bit of a hack, to type e.g. the word

thanks for sharing this and welcome to the other Wiki ;-)


This is interesting, but I'm not sure I'm getting this. So far I only
played around in the linked example page. As far as I understand this
plugin maps keyboard inputs to different chars. This worked with the
"Capitalize" language but that one is not really useful, I guess. So I
tried the "German" one, but since I use a German keyboard I didn't
really see any difference.

So could you give a short intro on what this actually does and when
it's useful? My guess would be that I would use this if I use a
keyboard mapping/system language that is different from the language I
want to write in and am not able to change this setting?

working on over at Wikimedia. We've tried to make it generally usable
as a jQuery plugin and it'd be lovely to see some of our free software
friends adopt it.

First, thanks Christophe for providing such a useful script.


I just fixed a bunch of things that where obvious to fix and rerun the
script. Now there are only cases left where some knowlege of the
language is needed to fix it.

I also added some explanation for the translators on what this is
actually about. Hope it is understandable.

Hi,

As I was reviewing French texts this morning, I found an error in a 
translation of a *printf format string. I realised that this kind of errors 
could be automatically detected.

I wrote a check script and ran it on latest dokuwiki git update. (not) 
suprprisingly, almost all languages have troubles somewhere with formats. 
Either there are typos, s% instead of %s, missing formats, or too many 
formats string.

to guarantee the HTML/XML compliance of DokuWiki, the localizations
files should not have invalid characters like <, >, & or % inside the variable
values.

Please have a look in your related language files and provide patches when
necessary.

I don't have a final opinion on the word that should be used to translate
"upload", but I also think "téléverser" should be avoided, as it is not
really a common French word (althought some translation teams of other FOSS
chosed it).

Hi Christophe,

I agree with "catégorie" as a translation of "namespace", but "téléverser" is almost never used... In fact, I just googled it because I didn't even knew this word! I'm for the use of "télécharger", which originally means something like "remotely load", whatever the loading direction (down or up) is, so can be used for both. The context easily does the différence, there's no need to use neologisms.

Anyway, it'd be a good thing if other frenchies give their opinion on that point!

I noticed that 'namespace' and 'upload' are not always translated the same. 
For the sake on consistency, I propose that we always use téléverser for 
uploap and catégorie for namespace.

I'll send new texts in a week or so if no answer.

Perhaps, it would be a good idea to have a lexicon page on the wiki.
