Hi All,

I'm Dileepa Jayakody, a Sri Lankan research student interested in semantic
web, linked-data concepts. My research project is about implementing a
digital identity verification model. I'm really interested in using foaf
networks as the data-source to implement my model and I consider entity
disambiguation as a sub-module in my system. I have submitted a
proposal<https://google-melange.appspot.com/gsoc/proposal/review/google/gsoc2013/dileepaj/1#>to
Apache Stanbol as a GSOC project to develop an entity disambiguation
engine using foaf co-reference techniques. For this project I need an
up-to-date foaf datasource. The link at foaf wiki site :
http://wiki.foaf-project.org/w/DataSources suggests several datasources but
it seems most of them are obsolete.

Can I please get some pointers to up-to-date foaf datasources which I can
use for my project? I also appreciate your ideas about using foaf as a
mechanism for entity disambiguation over the web.

Thanks,
Dileepa

I updated the http://wp.me/p1fcz8-39F post, for more on webid.

Three new topics:

My original post was fault in that I was yet again deceived that some server-side code that appeared to process an SSL handshake client cert... was in reality processing a layer 7 cert/signature/handshake message sequence (of rather similar purpose to an SSL handshake's client authn protocol element).

I then ask: so why IS webid restricted to layer 4 handshakes. Why not expand it to layer 7 certs/signatures, too?

Then, I find some really good material that shows why windows struggles/struggled with webid tied to SSL handshakes. It explains theoretically what I found out experimentally last year (and driveled on about in the knowledge darkness, remarkably accurately in retrospect). The referenced article also suggest fixes - whose style reinforces the conclusion I drew in that darkness:- that overriding kernel behaviours for SSL cert handling required/requires rather special coding. What MSFT seem to have done ... however.

Last year, I could not properly implement webid, since I could access the client cert without first having in done way registered it on windows. Today I think I did that, making webid interesting again.

Could some windows programmer type confirm the result? All one has to do is run a std sample (just the right one).

I think you're right. I was confused by the fact that ORCIDs denote only part of the individual, i.e, the researcher aspect.

I'll check directly with them for http vs https - I suspect this will be a source of confusion for users; most people would probably just copy/paste the browser's URL when sharing their ORCID.

Hi Melanie,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've been thinking of the ORCID as an
identifier (a URI, actually) for people. That would mean you can just
assert (in Turtle): <http://orcid.org/0000-0002-7023-9047> owl:sameAs
<http://companjen.name/id/BC>. and that a special property for ORCID
is superfluous.

This ORCID (URI) redirects to the HTTPS version of the same URI (the
web profile), so that the ORCID is different from the web profile. I'm
not sure that this works in all cases though.

Regards,

Ben

In today's technology-driven society, effective access to and use of information is a key enabler for progress. Driven by the demands for knowledge-based applications and the unprecedented availability of information on the Web, the study of knowledge capture is of crucial importance. Knowledge capture involves the extraction of useful knowledge from vast and diverse online sources as well as its acquisition directly from human experts.

Researchers and practitioners who work in the area of knowledge capture traditionally participate in several distinct communities, including knowledge engineering, ma

It showcases how the combination of Web Architecture and PKI address the
important (but thorny) issue of Web-scale verifiable identity. Put
differently, WebID is a powerful showcase of Linked Data virtues and its
boundless utility.

Hello

I¹ve followed your various bits of advice. Does this look reasonable?

A programme (which is an agent) which has made a tag:
http://bbc-social.herokuapp.com/programmes/b0071b63.rdf
http://bbc-social.herokuapp.com/programmes/b0071b63.ttl

That tag as made by the programme which ³means² the programme:
http://bbc-social.herokuapp.com/tags/theapprentice.rdf
http://bbc-social.herokuapp.com/tags/theapprentice.ttl

Thanks for any help
michael
