New GIT repository

has already been created at http://github.com/andig/videodb and 
populated with Release 4.0 (most fixes should be in now).

I am aware of the problem, but do not intend to fix it- I don't have the
time and I'm not using OFDB myself.

Anybody wants to fix the old screenscraping code is welcome and I'd be
happy to grant CVS access for regular maintenance. It could also make sense
to obtain the OFDBGW code and integrate it into videoDB instead of calling
it as external an unreliable service.

Otherwise- you're on your own, sorry.

output.php bug

Hi there,

I think, output.php is currently broken in CVS. Function out_genres 
creates a new HTML table ($out = '<table class="genreselect">) but it 
never closes it before returning the output. This results in at least 
elegant theme to be broken (edit page looks awful here).

Attached patch should correct the problem.

OFDBGW problems

Hi there,

I noticed you updated the OFDB engine to use OFDBGW (in CVS). Although 
it's generally a good idea using a WebService rather than parsing the 
pages, OFDBGW does not seem to return consistent data for all movies.

Take for example "Untraceable" (movie ID 137450). On the OFDB website, 
many of the cast members have pictures and all of those have information 
about their role (for example Diane Lane playing Jennifer Marsh, and she 
has a picture). When querying OFDBGW however, the result show as

   ...

which results in her not being given a picture in VideoDB, no 
information about her role and the hyperlink in the details page not 
pointing to OFDB at all.

That's just one example. It's not only with this movie, there are others.

Also, <kurzbeschreibung> is often too short (for example: "Die 
FBI-Agentin Jennifer Marsh (Diane Lane), die in der Abteilung für 
Cybercrimes arbeitet und jede Nacht im Internet

go to the ./contrib folder and run fetch_imdb_all.php from the command
line. If you've got imdb id's this will refetch all your images.

Warning: this will overwrite your data per movie with what comes from IMDB!

Nice work indeed, and fast too.

But same problem here : most of my covers have been lost in the upgrade
(I messed up with cache/img) and I ended up with pages full of question
marks. I'll try to patch nexgen.css/list.tpl to show some text, but in
the meantime I'd like to know if there is a way to force-reload all the
movie posters from imdb ? (and just that, I don't want to touch anything
else).

Regarding the new design, I just miss the magnifying glass to pop the
movie cover up, and perhaps the language flag icon which was easier to read.

But again, congrats for a job well done.

I didn't like the look with the text messing up the flow of the page, so I just threw together an option that uses tooltips when hovering over the image, while preserving the overall beauty of the layout.
Try changing list.tpl like this:

I just installed and upgraded, and I love it.  It looks like a whole new product.  There is one thing that's missing (or I'm missing it): on the browse view, only the covers are shown.  If only movies are in the database, that's not a problem, but I have a lot of TV episodes in my DB, which all have the DVD cover of the season's DVD.  So, as you can imagine, it's not possible to browse through TV episodes without opening each from the browse view.  Is it possible to have an option to show the entry title along with the cover (or is it already there as an option and I'm just missing it)?
