The asciidocs won't get any styling themselves. The HTML files that result from converting the asciidoc files will get styled, by (an edited version of) the standard CSS-file that comes with asciidoc, as well as our own styling for overall layout and design. From what I know people all have different preferences. Some have problems with too little contrast, others with too much. Some prefer a light background, others a dark background. I believe most people prefer black text over white background (but correct me if I'm mistaken, I don't have any scientific proof, just a bunch of reactions from people). In my opinion the colors/contrast should be adjusted to what's pleasant to the majority of visitors.
