Hello Wouter, Christian, Andrew and the others,...

ok, so we'll best skip the "developers meeting" this time.
But discussing web development and site structure next Saturday is a good idea

I'll be on IRC next Saturday (March 13) shortly after 18:00 UTC and then let's
just see... Maybe we can settle the site structure or discuss related issues
Christian: have fun at the "Chemnitzer Linux Tage"! and maybe Andreas
is there too...

Cheers

Usually I'm unavailable at Saturday nights; Wednesdays suit me better. But I might make it this Saturday, although I prefer a little earlier (18/1900H UTC).
I think it's a good idea to discuss web development with everybody who wishes to volunteer in some way. I'll be on IRC Saturday afternoon (UTC+1) as well.

Kind regards,
Wouter/daylife

Hello all,

according to our usual habits, the next Lumiera developer meeting
should take place on next Saturday (2nd in month). Does this work for everyone?
We might take the opportunity to discuss website and content structure a bit.
Wouter, do I recall right that Saturday was a bit problematic for you? If so
we should look for an alternative schedule...

Anyway, proposed schedule for the next Lumiera Developers meeting:

Saturday March 13, 2010 20:00 UTC

The meeting will be held on IRC: freenode.net in #lumiera

Please speak up if this schedule doesn't work for you.
Please feel free to propose topics or just join the meeting.

I will be on the "Chemitzer Linux Tage" this weekend, This won't work
for me. Plouj expressed that he is rather busy past time and had no time
to care for Lumiera currently, so maybe we revert to wednesday meetings?

Anyways, Lumiera core stuff is in deep development mode, I currently
have no much to bring up and being busy next few weeks with churning the
cache memory management up, I would like to talk and discuss this with
others who want to help, but nothing important to be talked on the
meeting about (Well, I miss the 'DesignProcess' stuff a little).

There are possibly some things to be talked about in the Web development
department, I think i am not really necessary for that, do you may make
the meeting without me when the others (Raffa, Wouter, Andrew,
Andreas,...) have time on saturday?

Otherwise tomorrow evening would work for me for a core development
meeting or next week wednesday or on the weekend.

Ah, just remembering that Andreas wanted to be at Chemnitzer LT too or?
meet you there :)

Indeed, since we agreed on website structure map v2, it now needs translation into a more concrete map that can be created. This concerns f.e. getting the titles of each section and page right, as well as choosing the filenames.

At this moment I'm learning Git in order to get work done on the uwiki styling, so if there are people out there willing to help on restructuring the website then that would be great. It's not such a big task, and it can be done pretty fast when more people are willing to help here. Perhaps it's a good idea to set a date (perhaps this Saturday?) to get this job done (and to fix all links). The sooner we finish this the better.

That might be a good idea. The webdesign document could then also provide the guidelines I mentioned earlier (and that need to be decided upon; or perhaps we'd better call it the 'goals' the website/design should fulfill).

Cool, that'll speed things up when you're also helping with uWiki. Until now I've been
editing locally, so we - or at least I - will need to figure out how to move that over
to git, since my knowledge of git is very limited. This weekend I'll have some time
to work on it (in the afternoon), so I'll be on IRC then, perhaps we could talk
about it there.

Good point. However, it wouldn't be too early to get some ideas for a visual style
flowing and to discuss the needs. Structure has pretty much been decided, and
again, I mentioned some examples for guidelines. If someone submits a terrific
white on black design then it's worth considering.

Sounds like a good plan.

I help with the uwiki forms also. currently uwiki is at
 uwiki form layout, and
understanding and clean up the form.conf

like you, I have other jobs, but I think git can help us
collabourate.

I am only recently learned git. More than one person can
develop one feature, if anyone
 uses irc often as possible
send changes as often as possible
if you want work local for long time, mail a statement to
everyone first
if you want to test anything, work with copy or new file
that is not shared

I noted that someone wanted a design with no sidemenu.
currently we have no draft designs and no agreed design.

I think now is better to unlimit the designers, go wild.

I think the design process is more productive, efficient
when after we have finished the site structure of files and
folds in git.

Then at least the designer knows what words to compose a
draft, also all designs will have same words rather than
ficted.

My experience as designer is that I would not really
know/want to design </pre>

You can use color, of course. Furthermore, mockups are never final; if the design is great but the colors ain't then the colors can get changed. No big deal.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'nested'. The asciidocs won't get any styling themselves. The HTML files that result from converting the asciidoc files will get styled, by (an edited version of) the standard CSS-file that comes with asciidoc, as well as our own styling for overall layout and design.

From what I know people all have different preferences. Some have problems with too little contrast, others with too much. Some prefer a light background, others a dark background. I believe most people prefer black text over white background (but correct me if I'm mistaken, I don't have any scientific proof, just a bunch of reactions from people). In my opinion the colors/contrast should be adjusted to what's pleasant to the majority of visitors. Then of course, it wouldn't be too much work to provide an alternative stylesheet with dark/low-contrast. </pre>

to keep the overall brightness low. Could this be a user-configurable

Alright, I'll do it then, although I'm also quite busy these days (or actually _always_, like about everybody :).
The only problem I have is that I can't participate in monthly meetings when they're on saturday nights, and that I might be a bit slow when facing project deadlines.

So OK, lets start by splitting up the tasks. I'm sure I'll forgot things, so please add/edit tasks to this list, and/or reply with your name if you'd like to pickup a certain task (perhaps we can better manage this through Trac?).

* website-staging: restructuring the content - done by ... and ...
* website-staging: fixing and creating links for the asciidoced content - done by ...
* uwiki: form layout, implementing tooltips - I'll do this for the time being; then I'll move on to whatever's the most urgent;
* uwiki: understanding and cleaning up the form.conf - done by ...
* uwiki: write help/tooltip texts - done by ...
* uwiki: further layout (more specific?) - done by ...

Then about the design: I pr</pre>
