I did a clean install of 12.10 on another machine, and the PPA installed
and Cinelerra appears to run fine (yet to put it through any tough stuff).

Think it might have been the 13.04 install - supposedly an install on
top of the old install, but I reckon there are some remnants left
behind, When I get to it, I will reinstall clean. But got data to clean
up first.

Uninstalled and re-installed, but same problem.

If I run it from home directory and type 'usr/bin/cinelerra' I get a
different error to the one below (run from the /usr/bin location)
/cinelerra: error while loading shared libraries: libx264.so.106: cannot

It's a clean install - not an update. Sorry, not making progress here.

That depends on what is to be done. I keep Wordpress, a DokuWiki and a
SMF-Forum running and up to date. And I take care of the domains and the
nameserver entries.

I closed the forum and the wiki to "self service" registration - it was
too much SPAM. It's now e-mail and ask. Works well, but keeps perhaps
some people away.

So it would include all the above stuff and perhaps more if it is easy
enough to learn.

So, any suggestions?

Hi Raffa,

I have really no idea what problems do you want to solve with your
proposal. We moved to our own server years ago to have the freedom to
control the services and infrastructure we want to use (git hosting
was not that common that time). With this freedom comes some
responsibility to maintain this infrastructure of course. Thats whats
currently lacking. But I don't see how moving to
sourceforge/launchpad/whatever would address this issue. There are
*plenty* projects on sourceforge which are in such a
irresponsible/unmaintained state where the wiki, bugtracker and
mailinglists get spamed. If there is no one who cares for it now,
then no one will do it there either.

Keeping the Server running is really no much additional work
(speaking of a few hours per month *at most*). Of course there is now
some inital work to get the server in a better shape (dist-upgrade, fix
some insane things and so on) but aft

The wiki can be abandoned but only after the useful user-added content
is stored somwehere else (Cin4Grandma?).
Trac can be moved to Launchpad.

That would move cinelerra.org to free and nearly self-maintained
platforms, except the domain that I'm happy to maintain (12€ a year!).

I have no good proposals for the git repos. What do you think?

Ciao

The financial difficulties are no big issue compared to the
administrative difficulties. cinelerra.org needs someone who will work
a few hours every month to keep the things running and up to date.
Thats *much* more valuable than money in the current situation.

Also I have to explain how the server is currently financed:
cinelerra.org is *not* a public organization which can collect
donations. So far (and I hope in this will work in future) there are a
loose group of people. I've rented a server and some people give me
money for hosting vservers on it on a private/non-commercial basis.
This is all a private thing, nothing tax deductible and neither I,
nor someone no one else, except the hosting company, making any profit
from it. I can not ask for donations and at least if anyone wants to
cover the server expenses this should be coordinated in a transparent
way. I now pay for the server and I am rather
