Greetings David-

When loading ip_conntrack_ftp, you need to specify the port used by Hylafax like so:

modprobe ip_conntrack_ftp ports=21,4559

How exactly this is accomplished in your container config file, I'm not sure. I have quite a bit of experience with both Hylafax and OpenVZ, but I've not used IPtables within the container in this manner before...

<pre>Hello,

I've got a hylafax install inside an openvz container. Now I'd like to run
a firewall as well.

I load the firewall modules for ftp connection tracking on the host machine
and with the following line in the containers config file:

IPTABLES="ipt_REJECT ipt_tos ipt_TOS ipt_LOG ip_conntrack ipt_limit
ipt_multiport iptable_filter iptable_mangle ipt_TCPMSS ipt_tcpmss ipt_ttl
ipt_length ipt_state iptable_nat ip_nat_ftp ip_conntrack_ftp ipt_conntrack
ip_tables"

Now my Problem is that it works for Port 21 only and I'm unable to set the
parameters for the module.

Is there another way to get hylafax working behind a firewall or has anybody
successfully installed hylafax with iptables inside an openvz container?

With best regards

FWIW, the profile can be removed using ImageMagick:

convert +profile "*" file.tif file_no_profile.tif

This command seems to do a little more than just strip the profile.
Examine the "before" and "after" tiffinfo dumps:

...

 DateTime: 2012:04:30 09:09:15
 ICC Profile: &lt;present&gt;, 416 bytes

 Group 3 Options: EOL padding (4 = 0x4)

The profile has been stripped but some other tags about white point
and chromaticities have been added.

If anyone knows how to just strip the profile without doing anything
else, please report the method.

This is your modem claiming that the audio on the call is demodulating
poorly. All TCF data received were 1's and not 0's as expected. So
either the audio is at fault or the modem is wrong. Probably the
least-difficult thing to do would be to try a different modem (different
make+model, different chipset).

Thanks,

Lee.

I assume that you mean on a PBX branch extension, and it should be
possible provided the modem is happy with the audio quality from the PBX.

<pre>
In some cases the ICC profiles actually do cause problems (e.g. when
Ghostscript constructs an incorrect ICC profile and then a fax of white
text on black background is sent instead of black-on-white). This has
prevented me from using Ghostscript 9.05 on production systems, and I
have merely been waiting for 9.06 to come out which hopefully addresses
the bad ICC profile problem. (It seems to have been reported and
addressed already based on my review of their bugzilla.) However, I
would actually much-prefer the idea of altogether disabling the embedded
ICC profile as I think that even if it were functioning properly that it
would not be terribly useful for fax uses.

However, as I don't think that we have any Ghostscript developers on
this list I suggest that you bring this up with them on their bugzilla:

http://bugs.ghostscript.com/

Thanks,

Lee.

I have not been able to receive faxes since Sept 2010. Sending works

I have had Telstra fix the noise on the line, and it sounds clear now.

Here is the receive log; the modem config file is below that.

The latest version of ghostscript-9.05 is adding an ICC profile

You can put a "VRes" operative in the sendfax.conf or hyla.conf file to
serve as -m or -l would on the command-line. See here:

http://hylafax.sourceforge.net/man/sendfax.php

However, there is no operative for "UseXVRes" such as -G would.
Frankly, I'm not sure that you really want to use -G, though. Usually
good dithering can avoid needing extended resolutions.

Thanks,

Lee.

<pre>Greetings,
I've set up a hylafax version 6.0.5 in a Ubuntu operative 11.10, and I want
to know how to setup the sendfax from the hylafax from a confirguration
file.

for example:

I want the fax I'm sending using the sendfax command to go by the default
option -m or -G.
I don't want to input options -m or -G in the terminal, what I want to do
is set it up from a confirguration file. Can you please give me an example
of how to do this?

Thank you

<pre>
I assume that you're using faxmail in your mail-to-fax process. faxmail
uses the date formatting found in the Date: header of the e-mail... so
if you want that changed you'll need to change it in your e-mail client
program.

Thanks,

Lee.

<pre>Hello,

I use Hylafax+ 5.3.0 under Debian with a virtual IAXmodem. For send mail to fax I use an Microsoft Exchange Server

When I send a mail to fax, on the top of my fax, I have hour on GMT+2 (ex: jeu. 10 mai 10:30:24 CEST), but in the header (To, From, Subject, Date) I have hour on GMT (ex: Thu, 10 May 2012 08:30:24 +0000). I want to modify the date on header, but after a long search, I don't know what to do.

Have you an idea?

Thanks,

Anthony

Move the line that says "^root" to the bottom of the file. Although I
suspect that you can probably just delete that line since there are no
passwords associated with it.

Thanks,

Lee.

<pre>
I have a TRENDnet fax/modem connected to FXS port on AudioCodes gateway.
The same setup is on the other end.
So it must be the delay that passing through two gateways.
