It should return a tuple whose first entry is the Resource of the
defining module, unless it is a string module, in which case it will
be None; this happens if the resource parameter of
get_definition_location() is None.

but i noticed that when i used rope as a library and froze the ide
using cxfreeze it was impossible for me to create projects due to one
thing; rope is not able to create a default settings file after it has
been frozen. it only worked in the source state. tracked the problem
down and found out that it was to be found in the rope.base.project
module, line 188. i suggest that for new rope projects, the defaults
settings be read from a text file or something.

Also, when finding definition of method and that method happens to
have been defined in an external module, rope is able to get the
correct lime number but does not tell u the module in which it is to
be found.

<description>&lt;pre&gt;Alright, now I understand. Rope _is_ adding this before-save-hook,
however, this hook is _not_ untabifying or removing trailing blanks.

Okay, I'll dig around in the rest of my config.

Thank you for your help.

    <description>&lt;pre&gt;Hi,

I did the following experiment:

1. Start emacs without any configuration: emacs -Q
2. Check before-save-hook value by calling "describe-variable":

before-save-hook is a variable defined in `files.el'.
Its value is nil

3. In the *scratch* buffer execute the following:
(add-to-list 'load-path "/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/pymacs")
(autoload 'pymacs-load "pymacs" nil t)
(pymacs-load "ropemacs" "rope-")

4. Check the value of before-save-hook again. This time it's:

before-save-hook is a variable defined in `files.el'.
Its value is (rope-before-save-actions)
Original value was nil

Calling describe-function on ope-before-save-actions, shows the following:

rope-before-save-actions is a Lisp function.

(rope-before-save-actions &amp;amp;rest ARGUMENTS)

Not documented.

So, I'm not sure where this is coming from.

I'm using Gentoo have the following package versions:
ropemode-0.2
ropemacs-0.6:0
rope-0.9.4
pymacs-0.23-r1

Are you seeing something else when you try this out? This driving me a
little bit crazy.

No. If doubtful, have a look at ropemacs' source code.
You can also open a python file without loading ropemacs;
verify if those functions are present in before-save-hook
or not.

I think the offending functions are added in an emacs
initialization script or while initializing an emacs
mode (maybe python-mode). Try disabling different parts
of your .emacs or emacs modes to find out.
