Fixing Bug Reports

if a bug get fixed, you normally find just a small notice from the core developer, that it's fixed. That's just it. E.g. https://bugs.oxid-esales.com/view.php?id=5106

I wonder, if there is a way, to find out which files and lines were changed, to fix the bug in our installation...

Hi everyone,

Marat is right. At times 'str' type was intended to store any alphanumeric value supplied. Having in mind that int and string values would be stored in the same db column and data validation should be performed on caller side anyways, there was no real need to differentiate between those 2 types.

i guess cause its hard to validate user inputs (or at least the effort wasn't worth it).
I use 'str' type + intval() to get the value as an integer and sometimes a fallback default value if intval() returns 0

thank you for your fast reply!

In our case we have hundrets of discounts in our shop.
Currently we solved it about a self developed module which saves the timed discount in an own table and updates oxarticles by a cronjob when a timed discount starts and when it ends.

We are uncertain about the performance of discounts due to the option to set groups, countries etc. Thats much more than we need and more DB-Queries mean worse performance. All would have to be checked and calculated in time. Do you have any experience about the performance of using a lot of discounts?

The feature you have mentioned is to be used for activating new prices (due to new price lists) at a defined time. For example, your manufacturer or distributor releases new prices valid from 01.07., you can implement those immediately and set the change date to 01.07.

When i would like to discount a product for one day (liveshopping) it would be fine to set either an upcoming price for a limited time (one day) or to set two upcoming prices (second one to reset price to old state).

So why isn't it designed by a matching-table where you can add as many upcoming prices per product as you want? Or is there any other functionality offered by oxid whereby you could discount a product for a limited time?

Hi,

when you want to save settings for your module with the variable types INT
or FLOAT, you will get only the variable label, but no textbox will be
displayed in the Admin.

After taking a look to the source code, I know why. There are only the
types 'bool', 'str', 'aarr', 'arr' and 'select' defined.
(module_config-php, function _loadMetadataConfVars)

Does anybody know, why there are not all types (even when the table
oxconfig itself contains INT values)?

and not an array.
Perhaps you have to clear its value again.

thanks for the hint! Your SQL statement doesn't work because you need an 
empty array instead of null. I've modified my SQL snippet with the LIKE 
clause.

UPDATE oxconfig SET oxvarvalue = 0x4dbaeb2d768d WHERE oxvarname LIKE 
'%module%';

that seems to work fine.

I've got an SQL snippet to empty the aModules array in the oxconfig 
table, but I think that isn't 100% compatible with the 5.0. The shop 
admin acts a little weird after that ;)

oxCounter is universal thing, which can be used everywhere you want to manage numbering. Now it is used only for order numbering, but in future it will be used more widely.

In your own code you can use it, just define different counter identification:

$iOrderNumber = oxNew( 'oxCounter' )->getNext( 'order' );

$iClientNumber = oxNew( 'oxCounter' )->getNext( 'client' );

....
