This is a second attempt at sending the following.  Apparently I

I have just been to the OO page
<http://udk.openoffice.org/python/python-bridge.html> and found
this address.  

I have some code to contribute.  I have written a set of three
classes (document, sheet and cell) to allow Python programmers
easy access to a spreadsheet.

It runs successfully under OO 3.3 (for me at least) and I suspect
that these codes would be very useful for others wishing to
implement Python routines that exploit OO spreadsheets.

Without doubt there are bugs that I have not yet discovered, so
some user feedback would be desirable.

Hi Bohdan, please feel free to do so. Just make sure you comply with the
wiki license. Wiki usually cover multiple license all of which are
considered "open".

After MUCH experimenting, I tried to call each of the functions
below WITHOUT uno.ByteSequence instantiation.

They both worked fine.  Apparently there is an error in the
documention!

I'm working up some Python code and have successfully used
"getDataArray" and "getFormulaArray", but have been singularly
unsuccessful in using "setDataArray" or "setFormulaArray".

The Python-UNO bridge document says to use a sequence,
specifically a ByteSequence to pass the relevant parameters to
the desired function.  I have employed several variations of the
following, without success:

self.sheet.setDataArray (uno.ByteSequence ("((5.,),(6.,),(7.,))"))
..........................................."(5.,6.,7.)"
..........................................."(5.,6.,7.,)"
..........................................."(5.,),(6.,),(7.,)"

The error most frequently seen is:

__main__.CannotConvertException: conversion not possible!

When calling (say) "getDataArray", a tuple of tuples is returned,
such as:

((2.0,) (3.0,) (4.0,))

so I thought the first example would be most likely to work.
Alas, that was not the case.

Any suggestions would be most gratefully received.

You have to set the PageNumber field's SubType property to CURRENT.

For such general API questions, not specific to Python, the

Hi,

I didn't found this subject in the faq, so I ask it.
I create a writer document and I'd like to have the page numbering.
It works except for the first page.
If I use PageNumberOffset to a value > 1, it works correctly.
If I set this to one or I don't set it, I have a blank number on the first page.
Do I forget something ?
Here is my sample :

The way I go around the memory leak right now is to start and stop the service.
With about 100 page documents generation the memory goes to about 1GB
depending what you do, so I would recommend at least 3GB of ram. But

problems occurs when you use to large scale.

Hello,
Finally after few months of waiting the openoffice.org 3.2.1 is here
in lenny backports. The speed improvement in that version are just
insane fast. The response time compared to 3.1.1 is just amazing.
Congrats to OO team.

 So if you are into doing some kind of templates here is how to use
openoffice in the code without touching ui !

Install ootools program: (http://pypi.python.org/pypi/ootools/0.1dev)
easy_install ootools

Then in python:

import ootools
oor=ootools.OORunner()
oor.start()
desktop=oor.connect()
#......
oor.stop()

The ootools start and stop the openoffice.org --hedless mode for you.
This is a great tool for creating templates. In my case I use it with
sqlalchemy to loop through records and create odt documents for each
record that then get it printed and mailed.

As OOo is packaged up as a bundle of platform-specific packages (rpm, 
deb, etc.) since OOo 3.0, and one of them is the URE package, we no 
longer offer an independent download of URE itself.  Just download the 
complete OOo and pick the URE package from there.

I would like to download both the latest and version 2.3.0 of the UNO URE.  I cannot either the latest version or 2.3.0 on http://ownload.openoffice.org.  I can find 0.x and 1.x versions though.
 
I have tried the link from http://udk.openoffice.org/ specifically http://download.openoffice.org/ure.html but it appears to be broken.
 
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

In the past I have sent an annual donation to keep open office alive. 
However there is a conspicuous lack of product support. Until I am 
able to receive an intelligent answer to the question "Please can 
someone tell me why the open office spell checker works 
intermittently?" I am no longer sending money to open office.

I have attempted several avenues of support all met with frustration 
as I was totally ignored or received well meaning but feckless 
support from amateurs.


I like your product and agree with most of the 'open source' ideals 
but am frustrated and disenchanted with the absence of any formal 
support. Open office is forcing me to fall back in using overpriced 
Microsoft products.


Please advise.

after installing Openoffice package.
My issue is that I wanna move previous installed Openoffice to other
machine which doesn't have any distribution package for Openoffice.
