<pre>For the last 10+ years, we're using PD as one of the major platforms when teaching and exploring IxD at the University of Limerick.

We still have a few places available on our taught Masters programme in Interactive Media at the University of Limerick, Ireland.

It is a 12-month intensive course designed specifically for creative graduates interested in pursuing studies combining technological competence and design/artistic endeavour. The convergence of media technologies offer unique opportunities in new domains across a wide range of activities, for example interactive digital art, explorations in ubiquitous and tangible computing, social networking, augmented reality, interactive visualisation and sonification.

<pre>Hi all,

Just a short announce of the release of `issiconvert', a pd library which
does some simple conversions between integers and symbols:

[int2shex] convert (int) float to symbol of a hexadecimal value with
`0x' prefix
[int2sdec] convert (int) float to symbol of a decimal value with `0i'
prefix
[int2soct] convert (int) float to symbol of an octal value with `0o'
prefix
[int2sbin] convert (int) float to symbol of a binary value with `0b'
prefix
[sany2int] convert a symbol of any of the four types (with prefix) to
(float) int
[symbol2clist] output a list of floats for the corresponding character
values of a symbol
[strlen] calculate number of characters in a symbol
[symbol2symbol] output the input if symbol

PuREST JSON is a library for working with RESTful HTTP webservices, and
JSON data.

Authentication and authorization for webservices are available with
basic HTTP auth, cookie authentication, and OAuth. As an example for
OAuth authenticated webservices, a Twitter client is included.

Changes in the new version:
- Disabling checking peer for SSL requests in [rest] and [oauth] possible
- [urlparams] does now overwrite previously set parameters
- RSA-SHA1 signature possible, otherwise info message is posted to Pd
console

- Bugfixes:
* SSL requests on Windows possible
* regression fixed for PUT requests

_Framework_

In recent years, the video game experience has outgrown TV screens, game
consoles and laptops, becoming increasingly ubiquitous. The availability
of mobile devices, tablets, sensors, geolocation services, augmented
realities and media facades has allowed the development of new game
ideas experimentally and as a prototype. At the forefront of these game

This workshop will provide an introduction to sound synthesis and the
creation of autonomous and interactive music systems. The workshop will
examine what happens when we return to the sounds of classic subtractive
and FM synthesis but subsitute the common MIDI interface (which is
structured around traditional Western notions of music) for an
alternative system. While there will still be control over the basic
parameters of synthesis, this new approach will change the way we create
and structure the music and lead us towards new aesthetic outcomes. The
workshop will combine the use of the open source software Pure Data with
new software created specifically for this workshop.

Concepts:

- Techniques for generative composition and sound synthesis
- New interfaces to structuring sound in reaction to traditional
Western musical notions
- Evaluation and discussion of t</pre>

at 10:00am (in about 10 minutes), the Linux Audio Conference 2013 is
about to start.

There is a live stream available, so you can follow the event, even if
you have not made it physically to Graz

  http://lac.linuxaudio.org/2013/stream

Remote participants are invited to join #lac2013 on irc.freenode.net[1],
to be able to take part in the discussions, ask questions, and get
technical assistance in case of stream problems.

See you on the conference - here and everywhere

library template v1.0.14 released!

<pre>
I just posted v1.0.14 of the Library Template that fixes some build issues on recent Mac OS X and Android:

https://puredata.info/downloads/template

If you are starting a library or want to port your existing library to multiple platforms, then the Library Template will make things much easier for you. Libraries in this format are very easy to install and they integrate tightly with Pd, providing things like namespace support, meta data for the search function, a listing in the Help Browser, etc. It handles building on all supported platforms (currently GNU/Linux, GNU/Hurd, GNU/kFreeBSD, Mac OS X/Universal, Windows/MinGW, Windows/Cygwin, Android, Apple iOS). Using this template makes it trivially easy to package your library for Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Gentoo, etc.

Find out all about it here:
https://puredata.info/docs/developer/LibraryTemplate

Ringtone - Amplitude Modulation Sequencer in Pd

<pre>Hi there, I'm releasing a simple vanilla patch.

I stole the idea from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LT5-yXaLpwA

Here's the patch, which does more stuff...
https://sites.google.com/site/porres/ringtone.zip

I got more ideas that I wanna implement later, as well as some
enhancements. But this is enough fun for you and all your family.

I'd love to see you try it on your raspberry Pis. I don't have my around
just now, but I think it's a light patch that will run smoothly on it.

Cheers

<pre>Dear List,

Flux is a digital sound sculpture for Android devices. It is our latest
artifact built with libPD. You can grab &amp; tweak the patch, download the app
from here &gt;&gt; http://www.binaura.net/stc/wrx/flux/

It would not be possible to build the synthesis engine without the Pd
community, special respect to the RJDJ team for their high level (brilliant
Vanilla-based) objects... thanks

..and share the source

Yours,
Binaura
