That'll work in other software besides Greasemonkey (I think?), what else
makes it better? If there's more than one style to change GM_addStyle
seems less cluttered, and won't this method fail if the element is
created after the script has run..?

Do you know where I can find this? I understand that if not specified in

meta.js) but couldn't find out how to check.

AHA, this I did not know. Would explain this particular script not
updating as yes I had edited it on disk. Is there a way to manually
change this flag? Or I guess deleting the script, restarting Firefox and
reinstalling from us.o would clear it?

(I've got into the habit of working on changes locally then updating the
version on us.o, and I move between a few different machines so the
locally-edited flags will be spread among them for different scripts....)

Thanks for the help!

You're sure of this? This isn't the default behavior for us.o.

There's a few things that checks:

(
https://github.com/greasemonkey/greasemonkey/blob/e8fe33dd4b987c1b0dac7b8f41e106db83aa246f/modules/script.js#L446)

* Updates preference for this script enabled? (You say it is.)
* Script is enabled? (It probably is.)
* Have an update URL? (If you installed it recently, there should be one.)
* Have not modified the script on disk since the last install? (This might
be the culprit -- we intentionally do not overwrite local modifications
with updates.)
* Update URL is secure? (You say it is.)

So there's one obvious thing to check.

<pre>So I've uploaded a few basic scripts to userscripts.org and installed loads
of useful ones from other people, but I can't get auto updates to work for
any of them.

Currently running Firefox 12.0, GM 0.9.19 on Mac 10.6.8

My checklist:
- script installed from userscripts.org Install button, install URL is
secure (https)
- Greasemonkey preferences has all 3 boxes ticked for Update Checking
(minimum interval set to 1 day if that makes any difference)
- the script has autoupdate ticked on Firefox's rightclick menu

No updates take place, even after a forced check.

Discovered I could query GM_info and put this in the script, it returned
False:
alert(String(GM_info.scriptWillUpdate));

Tried adding a &lt; at &gt;version metatag, then also unticking Require Secure
Updates.  scriptWillUpdate still returns False.

This is the script I'm testing with:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/125470

I'm missing something obvious, right? Any help appreciated.

I don't understand getting the references by class - I'm not sure how to
handle the return from getElementsByClassName - this doesn't seem to be a
simple array of objects.

I also tried a global search and replace like this as a test:

var searchRE = new RegExp('mb','gi');
var replace = 'xx';
for (var i=0;i&lt;textNodes.snapshotLength;i++) {
var node = textNodes.snapshotItem(i);
node.data = node.data.replace(searchRE, replace);
}

And it did not appear to do anything. One problem I have is I simply don't
know how to output to the error console for debugging.

<pre>Assuming you want to change these, you can select spans with a class of
"pressure", otherwise you could look for digits followed by "mb" in all
text content and replace that, as an another option ... nothing GM

complex jQuery may be helpful, see

Okay the honest answer is I haven't much of a clue as to what is going on in
GM... basically I want to selectively change bits which are visible. So, for
instance "mb" to "MB" which is stored within the invisible table. The data in
this table is rendered in the tabs and I was hoping that if I changed this
data it would render with the changes when the tabs were revealed.

Further examination indicates the data I want to change lies outside of this
div .

The problem I have now is the data I want to change isn't contained in a
conveniently named object - any idea how I change this?

You should probably call GM_getResourceText at the top level, and store it
in a variable that will be accessible at callback time.

<pre>For data that can get bigger than 64KB I have had more luck using
multipart/form-data, like if I where uploading a file in a form, than
with urlencoding. Is much harder to create, but you don't need to
encode anything, you can put the actual binary dump in the post.

<pre>Thx, I try application/octet-stream but nothing happend, data not
send (0 errors on console):

data: "answear=" + canvas.toDataURL("image/jpeg")

Only answear is send. It works as expected only when I use
"application/x-www-form-urlencoded" data are send.

But I saw another problem. I use canvas to read this data. But when I
get data, put on browser and save image I see sth strange: img looks
like the same but not the same. Canvas version is bigger, pixels are
not the same.

Any idea why? How can I save exacly the same img like the source using
JS in Greasemonkey?
