As far as I know, you are the first to ask for Windows 8 support :-)

Strange. This shouldn't happen. Workrave should not give a microbreak warning
if a restbreak is due. This might be a bug in the reading mode. I will check.
What is the duration of your breaks?

It should be suppressed.

The idle setting is stored in the registry (on Windows):

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Workrave\monitor\idle

default 5000, number of milliseconds you have to be idle before
workrave stop the timers.

If the key does not exist, you have to create it. (create key 'monitor' ,
create string value 'idle')

Change at your own risk.

Kind regards,
   Rob

Yes, all exercises are defined in the following XML file:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Workrave\share\exercises\exercises.xml

(on 64 bit system, on 32 bit, leave out ' (x86)')

You can add exercises to this file (you may need to restart workrave after
modifying this file). I think the format is self-explanatory. If not, ask me.

Kind regards,

Right now I can only see the breaks if I am in Desktop mode, so I am missing my breaks. I did try searching the Archive on this without luck - my apologies if this has already been discussed.
where is the setting to adjust the prelude duration?

<pre>Dear Workrave fans and gurus,

Where is the setting to adjust the break prelude duration?

I think the prelude is set at 30 seconds. I need to adjust it to 60
seconds, because I need a bit of time to stop another work timing tool
and enter a quick log message about what I have done. 30 seconds is
only enough time for this if I react instantly and do it very quickly.
60 seconds would be much less stressful.

(For those who don't know what the “prelude” is: Depending on your
settings, the prelude is the time when a warning message is on the
screen before the break is enforced, or it is the time when the
suggestion to take a break is on the screen during which you can stop
typing and then a break will be started.)

Thanks for any answers you can give!

With my best wishes,

Joe

<pre>Hi,

I currently have workrave set up to notify about microbreaks every 20
minutes, and rest breaks every hour. Hence, I get the following
notifications.

0:00    Start timers
0:20    Notification for microbreak
0:40    Notification for microbreak
1:00 Notification for rest break, immediately followed by microbreak.

Is it possible to suppress the third notification for the microbreak,
since I've just had a rest break? FWIW, I've got "reading mode" turned on.

Alternatively, is it possible to manually set the idle time for when
"reading mode" is off? It's much much too short for me, at ~9 and 16
seconds for microbreaks and rest breaks respectively. I'd like them at
about 2 or 3 minutes.

Cheers.

It'd be great to integrate a scheduler into workrave directly. I've had
to write scripts in three different places: cron, on wake from suspend,
and on startup. I'll detail them here if they might be useful for
anyone. They are written for a Linux computer (and based on pkill rather
than the above options).

In crontab:

0    9    *    *    2-6    pgrep workrave || export DISPLAY=:0.0 &amp;&amp; workrave
0    17    *    *    2-6    pkill workrave

At wake from suspend, run the following script. (i.e. place it in
/etc/pm/sleep.d/ )
====================
#!/usr/bin/env bash
# launch workrave if between 9 to 5 on Tuesday to Saturday, else kill it

<pre>Hi,

I think Unity only shows whitelisted icons... You can whitelist all icons
using the following command:

gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist "['all']"

(according to
http://www.webupd8.org/2011/04/how-to-re-enable-notification-area.html. This
information from 2011 might be outdated. I don't used Unity myself, so I
didn't test...)

Workrave has a special unity indicator plugin as a replacement. Not sure if it
is bundled with Ubuntu. If not you can install it from my ppa at:

https://launchpad.net/~rob-caelers/+archive/workrave

something like :
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rob-caelers/workrave
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install workrave-unity

   Rob

<pre>Hi,

Workrave in Kubuntu is probably compiled with gsettings instead of gconf. Try:

gsettings set org.workrave.general operation-mode 1

and,

gsettings list-recursively org.workrave

Interfaces names have changed some while ago... Try:

dbus-send --print-reply --type=method_call --dest=org.workrave.Workrave
/org/workrave/Workrave/Core org.workrave.CoreInterface.SetOperationMode
string:'normal'

<pre>Hi,

I'm using Workrave 1.9.909 in Kubuntu, and have been trying to schedule
Workrave to only operate from 9 am to 5 pm. There are a few posts in the
forum about how to do this in Linux, but none seem to work for me.

The first suggestion is to use gconftool. e.g.
    $ gconftool-2 --set --type=int /apps/workrave/gui/operation-mode 1

However, this doesn't seem to work as suggested. For a start,
    $ gconftool-2 --all-dirs /apps | grep work

produces nothing, so it seems that /apps/workrave does not even exist.
Secondly, attempting to set this key produces no visible change in the
Workrave GUI, and manually changing the state in the GUI to
Normal/Quiet/Suspended does not affect the gconftool key's state.

A second suggestion was to use dbus with
    $   dbus-send --print-reply --type=method_call
--dest=org.workrave.Workrave /org/workrave/Workrave
org.workrave.WorkraveInterface.SetOperationMode string:'normal'

but this results in:
    Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: No such interface

<pre>Hi, just installed workrave 1.10-0ubuntu2 and there is no tray icon at all!

I have checked the option "Show system tray icon" in Workrave preferences.

Please see screenchot for details.

Is there anything I can do to enable systray icon?

Thanks a lot!

Networking? New user in need of help

<pre>Hi,

I just installed Workrave to help with RSI. I wanted to use the networking
feature so both my home and work computers are tracked, but I can't quite
figure out how it works. I'm assuming I need to check "Enable networking"
on whichever computer I want to be the host, right? Then to connect from
the second computer, do I put in the username of the host as the host name?
Will it then ask me for the password I set on the host? I'm mostly asking
because the computers are far apart and I want to set it up right the first
time instead of doing trial and error.

Thanks!
Bea
