Hi Terje,

the behaviour is ok. The tree view is not connected to the account
types (entering no value will disable it). So you need to enter the
LDAP suffixes for each account type.

    <description>&lt;pre&gt;I'm testing LAM Pro 4.1

I create a server profile, fill in the Server address and the Tree
suffix which in my case is in the form o=TestCompany.

When I try to log in to the server with that profile I get

The following suffixes are missing in LDAP. LAM can create them for you.
ou=People,dc=my-domain,dc=com
ou=group,dc=my-domain,dc=com
ou=machines,dc=my-domain,dc=com
dc=my-domain,dc=com

Adding this will fail, and If I cancel, I will get messages like this
when I do stuff.

LDAP search failed! Please check your preferences.
No such object

If I browse the tree in LAM it actually shows what I expect.

Diggin into it I see that in the profile config file there are entries
types: suffix_user: ou=People,dc=my-domain,dc=com etc (for People,
group, machines, smbDomain)
Editing the suffix there seems to fix the problem.

Is this a bug? I think I went through all steps.

Hi Pascal,

the template file that can be downloaded at the file upload contains a
row with example values. These example values are fixed and cannot be
changed. They should only help the user to fill the CSV file.

As Tim already wrote there are also account profiles (see Tools -&amp;gt;
Profile editor). Here you can change the profiles called "default"
which will be loaded when you create a new account from list view
(e.g. a new user).
But these account profiles are not connected with the upload.

the Samba docs include no example for Samba host entries. But I would
suggest to use the same modules as for users (Unix + Samba). The Unix
object class will not harm.

In 4.2 you can use device instead of the account module for hosts. But
it will still need posixAccount.
There will also be support for Samba 4 in LAM 4.2.

    <description>&lt;pre&gt;Hi Roland,
I commented line 46 in lib/modules/device.inc and it works.

But I do not need the posixAccount object class (auxiliary) for the
management of Samba machine.
The tests I've done with the ldif file below are very successful, the
object class posixAccount is not necessary.
More, use the posixAccount object class generates the wrong icon in the
browser ldap (Apache Directory Studio) ie the icon corresponding to the
object classes person, inetOrgPerson, posixAccount and user.

May be possible in this case to do without the module Unix (posixAccount)
in Lam configuration Modules and replace it with a custom field to enter
the uid, or better including uid in Samba3 (samSamAccount) module. What do
you think ? Is this that you provide in 4.2 ?

Hi Pascal,

the problem is that both modules - device and posixAccount - manage
the cn attribute. But I think the modules can be changed to handle
this situation and I plan a fix for 4.2 (June).
In the meantime you can try to remove the conflict definition to
posixAccount in lib/modules/device.inc in line 46 (remove the whole line).
As long as you do not enter different common names on tab Unix and tab
Device it should work.

Best regards

Roland
