here is the release announcement for Kst 2.0.5. There could be interested parties on this list...
Don't hesitate to forward to other lists, friends, etc... Let's see if we can crack the download figures of previous versions, the trend is pretty good :-)

And if someone with a blog (aggregated on planetkde? - Stuart, I'm looking at you!) could advertise it, that'd be nice. I've been thinking about creating a blog myself, but I haven't taken the dive yet.

<pre>Hi,

We would like to setup a Quality Testing Team within KDE in order to
better test our next KDE SC and make the beta process more efficient.
Attached is the first draft of the ideas I brainstormed. Source .odt of
this document is available at
http://quickgit.kde.org/index.php?p=scratch%2Fannma%2Fquality-testing-doc.git

(We can make it a public Google doc if it is more convenient or an
etherpad).

The document roughly describes 2 areas of action:
- reinforcement (labeled "Reinforce") of existing structures (mainly
targeted to developers and mainly relevant before the beta stage of the
release). This could be used as guidelines for new developers. Of course
it won't be newbies which will develop Unit Tests or check the code
quality. But some guidelines can be useful for libs outside Frameworks.
An area of relevant reinforcement that can currently be done is the
Review process for new integration.
- new infra-structures: this is labeled "New" in the doc: this is what I
would see to happen for the 4</pre>

I don't know how or why I was thinking there was an (actively

Any ideas? Should we have one for KDE4?

Kst2 is a major rewrite to Qt4 of the long-existing, Qt3/KDE3-based Kst1 code base. Kst2 offers many new features compared with Kst1, including better meta data support, improved name handling, and shared axis boxes. For those who need the ability to read Kst1 files, and scripting (not yet supported in Kst2), Kst1 and Kst2 are installable in parallel.

<pre>Thanks for all the advices. I was indeed hoping for a point and click solution ;) Like the way Excel and
Open/LibreOffice use to do figures - select your columns and create a barplot (or something else). It
seems, however, that there is no really good "shortcut" program, which is easy to use and produces high
quality output. I didn't find the time so far to compile and look into cirkuit but it seems to be really
powerful, once you understand how to use it.

below is the mail I sent you earlier, but somehow it could not be delivered... I'm trying sending it to the list this time.
I fear there is some ambiguity as to what you're looking for. If you want to draw shapes, then I agree with previous answers that you should use karbon or inkscape. However, since you mention Rkward I suppose you're trying to plot curves from data.
Maybe you should try to define your requirements more precisely?

<pre>Hello Martin,

you might want to try Cirkuit (http://projects.kde.org/cirkuit), which
is a KDE interface for some languages (TikZ, Circuit Macros) that are
commonly used for production of high-quality vector graphics (with
LaTeX support). However, the learning curve might be a little bit
steep at the beginning because you will need to learn the basics of
the language. I can assure you that in the long run you will be
rewarded for the initial effort.

If you are looking for a point and click solution, in the past I used
Xfig and Inkscape... I wouldn't know about a KDE/Qt program though
....

when I write protocols and present data I use LaTeX (and therefore KiLe). Since you have a vector file format
and vector fonts it seems logical to produce vector figures, also. In the past Rkward was the program of
