Hi David,

I have been working a bit to make everything compile using the kde-windows
emerge concept. While stuff compiled and installed, I never got it to actually
start up and the emerge system had too many bugs for me to put more time into
it.
For someone interested; I'll attach the config file for emerge here. (place in
an emerge checkout under portage/contributed/koffice-master/)

Last I heard is that for the Google Summer of Code there is a student working
together with the kde-windows team to come up with a better build system,
maybe I'll try again then.

So, while there have been efforts to get this working, I'm afraid to say it
needs someone to put more time into this.

Thanks for asking!

The error message is : Could not open <file>, Reason: Parsing error in

How can I overcome this ?

KOffice applications can open encrypted documents of the OpenDocument ormat
But some closed formats like MSOffice documents an encrypted file can not be read
because the decryption concept for those closed formats is not known to KOffice.

If you are trying to open an open document format file (extensions like odt or
odp or ods) that should be possible if the right libraries are installed. (qca)
If you are opening other fileformats then unfortunately koffice can't help you.

Hope that helps.

Not sure what could be wrong, line 100 in that script is just an 'if'
statement, that should never stall.

Take a look at the script and notice that it looks for some filenames on your
harddrive. Like the 'ure' etc. Then check if you have all the requirements in
the expected locations.

Jonathan,
I have to disagree. All distros properly packaging Kexi have the splitting.
What you say is not excuse for giving up with splitting. Lack of time is.
But the issue was reported to Debian years ago in the time of KOffice
1.4 and now to Ubuntu.

The idea of recommended packages can address that.
In next version plugins would depend on kspread and maybe on openoffice.
Would it make sense to make Kexi dependent on those? This degrades its value.
Would you also add this dependency?

Well, since you're doing things from scratch: you may need to look at
FindMySQL.cmake script, originally located in KDE SVN
trunk/KDE/kdelibs/cmake/modules/FindMySQL.cmake path. Then you can
study what directories are provided for find_path(). Maybe your
directories are not standard.
Note that the script expects that you have development files of mysql
client, in particular mysql.h file installed.
