    <title>Introduction to my GSoC 2012 project with KStars</title>

    <description>&lt;pre&gt;Hi Everybody!

My proposal for Google Summer of Code 2012 with the idea -
"Make KStars more usable for beginner astronomers by adding
*What's Interesting... *feature to KStars and by making star hopping
feature user-configurable" has been accepted. My mentors throughout
this period would be Akarsh Simha and Rafal Kulaga. Also, another
KDE-Indian, Rishab Arora, would be working on KStars as his GSoC
project this year. :)

KStars is a great desktop planetarium software which is used by
all level of users interested in astronomy. My project aims at making
it more beginner friendly. Well, it is very exciting, and I'll be staring
work on it very soon (as soon as my exams get over - which will be
in a  week's time).

The "What's Interesting..." feature would suggest interesting sky-
objects that are visible in the night-sky +/- 1 hour. This would take
into account the equipment available to the user, his experience
level, his area of interest in astronomy and his location conditions
(light pollution).

 I have to implement the Perspective assistant in such a way that it can

artists to create the illusion of depth in their drawings :) . My

I enjoy coding and observing nature around me. I speak a lot with my

Since we are successfully re-launching Linit (the FOSS magazine of NIT
Durgapur GLUG) this year, I was wondering if we could continue with
the good work and take it forward - through a monthly newsletter..

We need not make printed copies of this, just e-copies uploaded in a
section on our website http://lug.nitdgp.ac.in

The idea is to have 2-3 articles (not necessarily original articles,
may be some good posts from blogs), one news section highlighting
what's up in the FOSS world, and a section on what people in nitdgplug
are working on...

Can people on this list help with articles?

Suggestions and criticism welcome.

    <title>[OT] internship opportunities in NGOs related to FOSS</title>
    <link>http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.kde.india/1056</link>
    <description>&lt;pre&gt;Hi all,

I'm a second year engineering student. As part of our curriculum at
DA-IICT ( http://www.daiict.ac.in ) we are required to do a rural
internship ( ie. work with an NGO and contribute to society in some
way ). Now I really want to do this well, so I figured if I could find
a place where I could work with technologies I'm passionate about,
that would be the best. So I'm really hoping to find some organisation
which uses FOSS extensively in its day to day activities and could use
another hand. The details are:

Time frame: 2-3 weeks in December 2009
Place: willing to go almost anywhere, but I live in mumbai
Areas I can work on:
    * Web development
    * Software development
    * Computer/Network setup
    * System administration
    * Teaching FOSS

My resume can be found at http://22bits.exofire.net/resume.html

PS. I would also appreciate pointers to organisations which could use
any kind of IT help, not necessarily in FOSS.

Thanks a lot,
