You can use the JRXhtmlExporter instead or configure the HTML one to not 
make use of images to align by setting the following custom property:
http://jasperreports.sourceforge.net/config.reference.html#net.sf.jasperreports.export.html.using.images.to.align

But if one day you'll have reports that indeed have images, then you 
better learn how to configure the image servlet in your application,
by looking at our /demo/samples/webapp and demo/samples/webapp-repo 
samples shipped with the JR Library distro.

I have a Text Field with width of 140. The value that populates it can vary
in length from 50 to 130.

What happens now is, there is a huge gap between this Text Field and the

Suppress subreport for Excel export

I have already been able to successfully suppress for excel export a detail
section containing a subreport as well as page header and footer. All
contents are suppressed as I want, but the empty bands remain in the excel
export, still wasting their space. 

I have already tried the following to get rid of them:

- net.sf.jasperreports.export.xls.remove.empty.space.between.rows

- net.sf.jasperreports.export.xls.collapse.row.span

- net.sf.jasperreports.export.xls.auto.fit.row

This makes ALL empty row spaces disappear, but unfortunately, not the empty
space of the band containing the suppressed subreport. As I willfully use
some empty rows, this removes everything I want to keep and keeps everything
I want to get rid of. The willfully used empty rows are no problem - I can
keep them by inserting an empty static text field for every one. This is not
a very elegant solution; at least, it fulfills its purpose. But one problem
is remaining: What about the large empty space of my suppressed subreport -
I do not

Check the footer, if u are not using it , remove it or configure it to
be at certain height from bottom of page

Extra white space when detail sectionoverflows

Hi

In my report whenever the detail section overflows to the next page
there's an extra white space left at the bottom (where couple of rows
of data can easily fits)
Does anyone knows how to eliminate this space.

Hi

I'm trying to get a silent print of my PDF report at client/browser. Unfortunately, I can't be quite successful in this. My silent print command comes to browser with the PDF document and when I open this there's a dialog stating "this document is trying to print", now if I click ok, the document gets printed. But I need to print the document silently without opening and without showing any dialog (not download dialog too).

more flexibility in while creating a report in jasper reports.
not sure about dynamic reporting but guess/bet it would some constraints,
try using it if want the fully power of Jasper reports.
