<pre>Hey guys,

as we move to Java 1.6 as baseline, it makes sense to upgrade to SwingX
1.6.x, too.
Because we don't support the EventListJXTableSorting-approach with SwingX
1.6,
I'll remove the following classes for the next release:
ca.odell.glazedlists.swing.EventListJXTableSorting
ca.odell.glazedlists.swing.EventListJXTableSortingTest
ca.odell.glazedlists.swing.JXTableTestApp

They simply don't compile anymore with SwingX 1.6.

As usual, please let me know if you have any objections or other feedback.

Thanks,
Holger

<pre>Hey guys,

I just committed changes to upgrade our tests to JUnit 4. A few notes:

   - now JUnit 4.11 and Hamcrest 1.3 is used
   - you don't need to put junit.jar into your ANT lib folder anymore
   - instead, it's downloaded like any other dependency from our site and
   placed into the tools folder.
   - therefore, you now need ANT version 1.7.0 or higher to build Glazed
   Lists
   - most of the boilerplate conversion of the tests was done with the help
   of JUnitConverter &lt;http://junit-converter.sourceforge.net/&gt;
   - I reimplemented the functionality of SwingTestCase and SwtTestCase
with the help of JUnit rules:
      - SwingTestRule executes each test method on the Swing thread
      - SwtTestRule executes each test method on the Swt display thread
      - SwtClassRule initializes the Swt display and shell in a dedicated
      thread once per test class
      - I kept the base classes SwingTestCase and SwtTestCase for now,
which were changed to use those rules
      - if you need to run a t</pre>

<pre>Hey Rob,

I had a quick look at your adapter.
I think it looks great and straightforward.

I think a JavaFX extension would be the right place for this work.

Last month I had a small conversation with Jonathan Giles and Martin
Sladecek from the JavaFX team
about creating an adapter between JavaFX observable list and GL EventList.
I think they are supportive of the idea, so if JavaFX specific questions
arise, they might be able to help.

I think to fully bridge the two worlds we need to finish the work on
providing the deleted/updated elements in GlazedLists.
Therefore I didn't start the JavaFX adapter yet, but now I'm glad you did
;-)

The next two weeks I don't have much free time,
but I'm about to finish migrating our tests to JUnit 4.

Stay tuned,
Holger

I'd like to deep-bump an old thread last discussed a year ago:
http://java.net/nonav/projects/glazedlists/lists/users/archive/2012-03/message/4

The topic is dealing with ObservableList in JavaFX.

I'm now starting to move into JavaFX development myself and, frankly, I
think whoever designed the models in JavaFX was a GlazedLists fan. There's
clearly significant inspiration taken. Bottom line: (So far) I love it.
It's exactly how I end up making my Swing code look.

However as discussed, they don't have transformations yet. So, I give you
an experimental (!!!) wrapper for EventList to present an ObservableList
interface:

https://gist.github.com/robeden/5178464

Known limitations:

   - Not tested, documented, etc. Basically it's crap experimental code.
(For future readers: really, please don't use this in production.)
   - I don't lock anything.
   - I have to use ListEvent.getOldValue(). Probably more just something to
note than a limitation, per se.

Re: Glazed Lists 1.9.0 Released

<pre>Hello Michael,

there are two issues related to this:
http://java.net/jira/browse/GLAZEDLISTS-465
http://java.net/jira/browse/GLAZEDLISTS-466

The old models automatically wrap the source list with a thread proxy list,
if the source list itself is not a proxy list.
The new models don't do this anymore.
This way, you have more control when and how to wrap the source list with a
thread proxy list.
For example, you could use your own thread proxy list implementation if you
need to.
This request for flexibility originally came from the Limewire guys on the
mailing lists.

We chose to provide new models instead of changing the behaviour of the
existing models
for backwards compatibility, so your existing code should still work.

The concurrency chapter of the tutorial also has some info about this topic:
http://www.glazedlists.com/documentation/tutorial

Hope this helps,
Holger

I just noticed that it's already published to Maven Central. ;-)
If someone could do a sanity check and test the download with Maven or

Also, please have a look at the release notes here:

I also tagged the release in SVN and updated the tutorial, some pages and

The only think that's missing is publishing the Javadocs for 1.9.0.
Any suggestion where to put these?

I'm thinking about enabling the project website feature on java.net (
glazedlists.java.net) and creating a SCM Website hook
to serve the javadocs from SVN.
