Hi,
Finally I'm fine with overriding mouseMove(Component, int, int) which is public, but to do so, I need to call waitForComponent that is private, if that one could be made protected final instead, I would be fine.
Thanks.

I want to call the higher-level version either directly or indirectly via other higher-level methods in Robot, but when the lower-level mouseMove(int, int) is then called, I want to override its behavior.
In my case, want I to do at that point is to "smooth" the moseMouve, i.e. transform it in a series of smaller mouseMove.
You can infer that what I'm doing is some kind of animation and not UI testing ;)

For CI, we recently set up the latest CruiseControl and are using that,
I'll see if its "build artifacts" feature helps.

I'll grab the latest Abbot build and see if the hierarchy and threads

how to control file locations for screenshots, I'll definitely post it.

In the latest builds of Abbot it will dump information such as the component hierarchy and the current thread state as part of the exception. You can ignore the huge number of test failures and just pick up the jar, this is an environmental issue that I don't see on my private Hudson system. On my system the changes really reduce the number of intermittent failures, in particular on JDK 1.6 post u30 and JDK 1.7

I'm trying to figure out how to troubleshoot non-robust Abbot test

failures are intermittent and the script doesn't fail 100% of the time,
it would be really helpful to have additional info from the failure

enable anything like that when running scripts via the
junit.extensions.abbot.ScriptFixture program ("java
junit.extensions.abbot.ScriptFixture script.xml")?

Thanks,

All,

In order to help me get to the final 1.3 release I have set up a public Jenkins instance courtesy of CloudBees:

https://abbot.ci.cloudbees.com

At the moment there are some environmental issues that are causing test failures, the window manager provided for the tests is not using gnome or KDE, but hopefully you should see the test failures drop towards the 4/5 that are still stopping me releasing a new version. (I have a much larger Hudson Small-Holding that I use internal to Oracle where I also run Abbot tests hence my confidence about the number of test failures)

I would welcome help on resolving the final few problems,

Gerard

On the surface that sounded like the winning combination, resulting in the
expression doing something like this:

   ...
File ofile = new File("screen0.png");
BufferedImage bi = script.getProperty("screenBuf");
try
{
    ImageIO.write(bi, "png", ofile);
} catch (IOException e) {
  ...

Which did create a file, containing a png image, but alas is not the
screen that is being displayed on this phone emulator's display (it's an
empty png of the correct size of pixels however.) I'm now going to make
an extension to the Step() object because that appears to be the only
mechanism that is capable of the level of abbot.robot control I need. I
didn't want a custom version of Abbot but I guess I'll be delivering
one...

Thanks for the pointer though, it did clarify how to use script variables
from sample steps within expression steps.

    <description>&lt;pre&gt;Hi,

Well, as a follow up on my previous question, how to capture screens in a
Abbot XML script, I've cobbled up the script (below) which uses the
'sample' tag to initiate a snapshot from the abbot.tester.Robot.capture()
method into a sample variable I've called screenBuf.

My question is, how should I be referring to this variable within the
subsequent 'expression' tag/block. As I understand it, you should be able
to reference this variable using the ${screenBuf} syntax but beanshell is
bombing out with a complaint about a lexical error, the text of which I've
attached after the XML source (again, below.)

Any ideas on what my beanshell syntax problem is?

Thanks!

I'm currently performing an assert() upon to compare it with a statically

generate an oracle for the tests and having the test script perform the
screen captures at the right points in the actions is the best way to
accomplish it.

Hi,

You are probably going to have to look at writing test fixtures, or the setup/tear down annotation, to reset application state between runs. You application might use a singleton for example to cache the credentials and this class would have to be refactored or cleaned down between test runs.

It would be hard to say for sure without digging through your code,

    <title>Abbot Query</title>
    <link>http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.java.abbot.user/2985</link>
    <description>&lt;pre&gt;Hi
I am using abbot framework ,I have some queries as follows,

Scenario 1:
1. I have created test scripts for testing my application. When I enter
correct credentials and run the script It works.
2. I created another scripts checking for an invalid input.When I run that
script individually it works.
3. But If I put both scripts in TestSuit, order as follows
            a. Scripts checking for valid credentials
            b. Scripts checking for an invalid inputs
Then in second scripts should not allow applicaion to login. But it does.,
Can you please help me what can be the possible reason? Does abbot store
anyvalues? means Do I need to change any settings. I am new to abbot,
please help.

Have you considered something like Hudson-CI / Jenkins-CI? This will run your tests via Ant or Maven or a script and publish the results / email / IM you / light up a table lamp as required. (http://wiki.hudson-ci.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=20250625)

    <description>&lt;pre&gt;Is there a way to handle test results? Both success and failed tests?

I want to run tests automatically on daily basis and I would like to post the
results into a log and maybe send me an email if a test fails.

Is there any way on doing this?

Diego
