<pre>Hello Mark,

thanks for being so patient and helping to debug the issue. The
observation is caused by a forgotten line of code. The locals dict of the
current frame was not remembered in case of an exception. That is fixed in
the current sources. The change will be part of the next release. If you
need it urgently, just copy it over from the sources. Sources are available
via the source code repository. See the eric web site for details.

When I upgrade to the next version in line, 4.4.13 (r3989), this no longer
works – when I say yes to break at the exception and type self (or other
variables that do exist) in the shell, I get not defined errors.

The change log is unhelpful, the entry for 4.4.13 is “bug fixes”. Can you
please provide any insight into what changed in between these two versions
that could cause this?

Thank you,

Mark

Macports creates the following symlink /opt/local/bin/designer -&gt;
/Applications/MacPorts/Qt4/Designer.app/Contents/MacOS/Designer
and when I saw Eric4 pointing the Qt4 directory to /opt/local/bin I thought
it was correct. I adjusted the Qt4 directory in Eric4 preferences to
/Applications/MacPorts/Qt4 and now I can launch designer from within Eric4.

Thanks for your help.

it is probably caused by the way eric searches for the Qt tools. I adjusted it
only to the official Qt installer, which creates an application bundle. Please
give the paths of the tools as generated by macports. Maybe I can adjust
to that as well.

I am running mountain lion 10.8.2
I installed the following from macports -

Python 2.7.3
QT 4.8.4
PyQt 4.10.0
QScintilla 2.4.6
Sip 4.14.5

I then got the latest source code of Eric4 4.5.10 and installed that. I can

this from Eric4, I see the error.

I did a search for this error, and found a similar problem somebody had in
2008. The message was slightly different and that thread did not help.

Another thing I should mention is that before I went the macports route.. I
installed the complete bundle for PyQt from pyqtx. This was installed on
python 2.7.2 I installed from python.org.
I abandoned that route and went the macports way.

I did make sure I</pre>

are you sure, there is no old QScintilla around on your computer? When
you compiled everything yourself, that is probably the case. Or your
QScintilla bindings compile picked up an old sip installation.

<pre>Hello,

1) By updating PyQt4 and sip but not updating the QScintilla Python bindings, you got
a non-functional mix of packages. Once you update the later, that issue should be
fixed. It is clearly outside eric.

2) Eric told you already, what is missing (namely pyuic4). Try to do 'which pyuic4' in a
console. If it is not found, it is a clear indication that your installation is incomplete. If it
is found, please let me know about it's place and your PATH setting.

<pre>Hallo,

is there any Debian maintainer out there? If so, I would like to
ask, if a package for eric5 can be added?

Regards,
Detlev--

Cool. That's a sensible default.

Duuh, you're right and I missed the fact, that even qt (designer|linguist)
doesn't localize the file selector dialog items within KDE 4.10 for me
anymore. Only native KDE application get this right.

Will bark at another tree for this one.

Thanks for the quick response.

Cheers,
Pete

<pre>Hallo Pete,

1) svn
That is a bug in the current sources, which I fixed just now (was a reversed logic, i.e. missing
'not').

2) file filter
I changed the default to be the one for Python.

3) Incomplete translations
I don't know what language you are referring to. If it is German, than the incompleteness is
not within eric but KDE. The eric4 translations for German are done by me and they are
complete (at least according to Qt Linguist).
