I thought it would be something like that, but was unsure about two things:
  --should I connect pin 1 to usb ground, serial or both? I assume they should be at
the same level
  --what about keeping DCD on a valid voltage level? or would it work as an
active high receiver If I leave everything else out with the same IR sensor?

hey there,

I was used to lirc since a long time using homebrew receivers with success.
Now i changed my remotes to some aureal and built lirc 0.9.0
--with-driver=atwf83
which is specially meant for this devices.
Further changes are : disble the eventX from beeing used in Xorg,
tell udev to symlink the appropirate device to /dev/input/irremote,
copy the config from sources to /etc/lirc/lircd.conf (debian),
start lirc via SysV and with -H atwf83 -d /dev/input/irremote.
also i changed the remote's name in my ~/.lircrc.

Unfortunately i have no function and can't use the tools to
check my input because they are meant for some pulse/pause
combinations and not for hid-scancodes.

How may i check and correct this issue ?

Hello,

I have some problems using an USB IR Blaster with the ftdi driver of Lirc.

Here is my system config :
- Linux NeoLex 3.8.0-19-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 1 16:36:13 UTC 2013 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux

To install my device I have followed this site : http://www.huitsing.nl/irftdi/

I have compiled and installed Lirc with the FTDI driver.
And I have configured it with a lircd.conf that I know it works.

I got the informations of my device by :

Your IR-PRO device data looks like the output irrecord would produce in
'raw' mode
that is the timings of the marks and spaces in the Infra Red data.
The times recorded by irrecord are in microseconds, looking at your data
above
it appears that the IR-PRO device uses 25 microsecond units.

This got me a little further. Looking into the init script, I saw it was
starting two processes, one with --listen and one with --connect. But
syslog showed it was failing to connect. Turned out I had a driver
blacklisted from an earlier attempt to get this working. With that cleaned
up, I do get two processes running as expected:

/usr/sbin/lircd --output=/var/run/lirc/lircd --driver=devinput
--device=/dev/input/by-id/usb-15c2_0038-event-if00 --listen
/usr/sbin/lircd --output=/var/run/lirc/lircd1 --device=/dev/lirc0
--connect=localhost 8765 --pidfile=/var/run/lirc/lircd1.pid

Still getting "hardware does not support sending" error when I attempt to
transmit.

devinput should contain most, if not all, key definitions for all remote
controls.
OK so I'm also understanding you a little better :D
You could use different environment/config files passed as arguments to
the LIRC service. You will need different instances of LIRC each running
concurrently and using its own environment/config file. But if you merge
all your enviornment/config files into one there "may be" key overlaps.

Here is background to using multiple instances of LIRC. Note that you
will need to configure the LIRC service appropriately so that all your
remotes connect into the one socket.

http://www.lirc.org/html/configure.html

If you don't find the key for your RC in devinput (though quite
unlikely) you can make your definitions using irrecord. But I just tend
to go with whatever assignment is in the devinput file and use that as a
pointer in .lircrc.

I think you should find everything in devinput without having to make
separate environment/config files for each RC. Then you only need t

How many remotes do you have and which ones?
The environment file (lircd.conf) remains pretty static and shouldn't be
changed once you have LIRC correctly set up.

The .lircrc file is what you use customise appropriate key presses for
each application which uses LIRC. Different apps have different
definitions for different keys. In this file you will put script like:

# begin !<Your App Name>!

begin
     prog = !<App Name>!
     button = KEY_XXX
     config = !<Function assigned to this key>!

end

begin
     prog = !<App Name>!
     button = KEY_XXY
     config = !<Function assigned to this key>!
end

.
.
.
end !<Your App Name>!

RE: Irrecord with Hama MCE Remote receiver

For more details :
I am on the latest Xubuntu distribution (13.04) : uname -a Linux NeoLex 3.8.0-19-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 1 16:36:13 UTC 2013 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux
I use a Hama MCE Remote 52451 with its receiver.
I have configured lirc with the devinput driver and tested it with irw, it seems to work :irw110 0 BTN_MOUSE /dev/input/MCEremote1111 0 BTN_RIGHT /dev/input/MCEremote11c 0 ALT_META_KEY_ENTER /dev/input/MCEremote0a6 0 KEY_STOPCD /dev/input/MCEremote1a4 0 KEY_PLAYPAUSE /dev/input/MCEremote1a4 0 KEY_PLAYPAUSE /dev/input/MCEremote1
For the moment I have a lircd.conf file which works, but I would like to re-create this config file from scratch with irrecord.
I have tried to create this file with the following command line :irrecord --driver=devinput --device=/dev/input/MCEremote0 --force ./MyRemote...irrecord: initializing '/dev/input/MCEremote0'...Hold down an arbitrary button.irrecord: gap not found, can't continueirrecord: closing '/dev/input/MCEremote0'
Can any one explain to me wh

Hello,
I would like to know if it's possible to use irrecord to make a Lirc config file with a Hama MCE Remote receiver. And if yes, is it possible to use this receiver with others remotes.
Regards,

Why does your LIRC config produce two sockets?

If you have two devices (two transmission devices) both of them require
an assignment (eg say, /dev/lirc0 and /dev/lirc1). You then need only
one socket but both devices need to "connect" into that one socket.

You need to the use the --listen argument and --connect=localhost:PORT
argument passed to your LIRC service.

The first device will listen and the second device will connect.

See here for a background:

I could use some help getting my MythTV over what I think is the last
hurdle.

My hardware.conf is below. As written, I have a remote that works
perfectly, but attempting to transmit with irsend gives the error message

irsend: hardware does not support sending

On the other hand, if I comment out all the REMOTE* lines in
hardware.conf, the transmitter works perfectly.

Other clues:

With the hardware.conf file as shown below, "ls -l /dev/lirc*" produces:

crw------- 1 root root 250, 0 May  8 19:36 /dev/lirc0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     19 May  8 19:40 /dev/lircd -> /var/run/lirc/lircd
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     20 May  8 19:40 /dev/lircd1 ->
/var/run/lirc/lircd1

Turning off power on the HD-PVR makes /dev/lirc0 disappear, fwiw.

I'd be grateful for a hint.

Greetings,

I would like to know if lirc operates over ipv6 networks and whether there are
compile switches to compile lirc for ipv6 usage.

Thanks in advance

Hi,
Over the last couple of years I have attempted unsuccessfully to get my
Hauppage A415-HPG-WE-A remote (Nova T-500 card) to work.

Recently I have been running XBMC and REALLY want to get it to work but
cannot find and up to date information relevant to latest Fedora kernels.

Before I go into lots of detail on what I have done, can someone point
me to any relevant information?
I just want to see all the buttons being detected and given a function,
I will configure lircrc later!

Thanks for your time
