<pre>Yes this is a common problem with many people suffer from. It is something
we urgently
have to fix (someone has to test if the 2.0 branch of CS suffers from this
because with this
problem we cannot release 2.0).

Luckily it is easy to work around this problem:

Just add --enable-relaytool=no to the configure line:

./configure --enable-relaytool=no
jam

And CS should work after this.

<pre>Hi all,

Yesterday the accepted students for Google Summer of Code 2012
were announced. As it is the case every year it is always unfortunate that
we have
to reject so many good students but that's how this program works. However,
seven
students got lucky this time (well, perhaps that has to be seen :-) and got
accepted
for Crystal Space. Here are the seven students and their projects:

 - Naman Gupta: Improving support for Water Bodies (mentor Frank Richter)
 - RlyDontKnow: Extending the Deferred Render Manager (mentor Alexandru
 Voicu)
 - Andrei Bârsan: Extensions to the cseditor framework (mentor Jorrit
 Tyberghein)
 - Domi: Improved physics in Crystal Space with Bullet (mentor Christian
 Van Brussel)
 - Sam Devlin: Updating Behaviour Trees, Recast&amp;Detour and the Life-Sime
 Demo (mentor Anthony Legrand)
 - Steel Style: Lighter2 improvements (mentor Mohit Taneja)
 - Touko: VFSv2: Modular and Extensible Redesign of VFS (mentor weltall)

Welcome to these students and hopefully they ca</pre>

<pre>Thanks for these quick answers. I tried to put the csfx call* at the
end of Simple::Frame(), but the result is the same.

Tried also inside a FinishFrame() overload, but the only event
launched in the main loop is FrameEvent, hence FinishFrame() is never
called (checked with breakpoints). Am I missing something?

*the call :
 iMaterialWrapper* tm = engine-&gt;GetMaterialList ()-&gt;FindByName ("stone");
 csfxFadeTo (g3d, tm-&gt;GetMaterial()-&gt;GetTexture(), .5f);

<pre>
When do you call the csfx function?
It almost sounds like you're drawing it _before_ the 3D scene.
The drawing by the csfx function itself has depth buffer interaction disabled, so “3D scene drawn after” is right now the best explanation I can think of.

<pre>Hello Crystalspace team,
For a game, I need to display an overlay texture above everything else
on the screen, with variable opacity. I found the function csfxFadeTo()
in walktest (F6 command). I wanted to try it in a minimal code example,
so took the Simple1 tuto. It works well, the texture is actually
displayed, but unlike in walktest :

- this csfxFadeTo() texture is on the background (I mean behind all
meshes) instead of the foreground. Any idea on how to set it above any
mesh? Or maybe some advice about another way for such overlay feature?

I just added the csfxFadeTo() call and some minimal code to get a
iTextureHandler for the parameter. The texture is well dispayed, apart
from this z-order problem. - CS v1.4.0, Visual c++ 2008, Windows 7

Thanks in advance !

[CsMain] Proposal: A monthly CS dev IRC meeting

<pre>Hi all,

RlyDontKnow brought up a good point about how we talk and how we
interact with the community.

We do not interact well enough and we can make it better. While we would
like people to use the mailing lists for discussion for decision making,
we could have regular IRC meetings for those who prefer talking there.

This being the case. I would like to propose a monthly IRC meeting. This
would be hosted by an 'operator' and all subjects to be discussed would
be pre outlined on the CS site (a page to be developed).

Your thoughts?

Regards

Phil

[CsMain] Accepting Student Proposals for Google Summer of Code!

<pre>Hi all,

Code. If
you plan on applying to Crystal Space then please make sure not to wait
until
the very end to submit a proposal. It is better to submit early because you
can still
edit your proposal until the deadline and that gives us a chance to give
feedback
to you so that you can improve your proposal and ultimately give you a
better
chance of being accepted.

To apply visit this page:

Greetings and thanks,
