Folks, We're updating Cheetah to detect and use local settings. Eventually this system will propagate to Gazelle. Here's the Cheetah info; it's a work in progress, so stay tuned for updates. The summary is this: to override default settings, like database username, password, and Selenium's browser start command, you tell the maven build to look in .mifos/local.properties. Put your settings there. Visnawath, You've brought up some good questions. Adam and I have discussed this issue more, and I think we need to do some more research in figuring out the correct behavior since there are multiple batch jobs that could write transactions to the log. Hi, The API for creating an Account transaction is as follows: class SavingsHelper{ public AccountTrxnEntity createAccountPaymentTrxn( AccountPaymentEntity payment, Money balance, AccountActionEntity accountAction, CustomerBO customer, PersonnelBO createdBy); } As you can see, the method expects a PersonnelBO for the createdBy variable. Since we wanted to insert "System" as the createdBy value, we need to create a user in the database with that name. Is that desired? If yes, then I guess we can use that for all the batch jobs. We also have to modify the database script to create that user in a localized manner. Can I hear some suggestions if that is the right approach so that I can move forward? Dear All, While working on Issue 2245, I am doing a navigation test to observe what happens as to the UI. When connecting to the Mifos test server, the test works ok and the defect happens ("Please enter a valid date"). When building the war (ant clean war build_test_db) the second and following times, and deploying it using Tomcat on my local machine, I get the error mentionned above (see attachment). This is reproducable, any numbers of times. Alternatively I have also downloaded Jeff Brewster's "Standard Test Data Set", and executed the .sql File on my local mysql client (source mifos_standard_20080321.sql), unfortunately with the same impact. Any ideas why the local deployment does not work ? Thanks and regards,

I've been trying to work out why "ant build_test_db" and "ant run_test" try to use the wrong database. Unfortunately I haven't kept a record as to when this behaviour started... The question I have is: Have I missed a message advising that the configuration files have moved, or is this the consequence of an undocumented change? Or is it some silly thing that I have done? This doesn't affect the "production" test instance, as the contents of deploymifosDB.properties on the class path are still honoured on the application/web server, which is a different machine to the build one. Hi Visawanath Thanks for looking into this issue! Interest postings to savings accounts are different than loan accounts in that for loan account, it is a user that is paying interest on their loan - in your example on the test server, it happens to be user account with personnel id 1 whose name is " Mifos MFI (DO NOT CHANGE THIS USER ACCOUNT")". If you were logged in as a different user and paid interest on that loan, the transaction history would show the new user's name in the PostedBy column. For savings accounts, interest posted to the account are paid TO the client, so we are using "System" to denote who is paying the interest. Hope that makes sense! If you decide to continue working on the issue, please fix it so that interest postings to savings accounts use "System" in the PostedBy column, and so that the string can be localized.
