Thats right. Please have a read through the updated wiki (schedules,
scenario, etc.) and confirm whether it makes sense.

As per the update in the wiki, for a particular class say
"CSE.2Semester.ClassA" there will be n number of schedules depending on
the internal classification criteria. Every user will have only one
schedule mapped onto him. Right?

Then comes the problem how do we differentiate batches inside a
particular class. A class might have different batches for different
subjects, and students in different batches go to different class rooms
for that period and their attendance will be taken separately. How do we
accommodate this?

So an AttendanceSchedule say "Student.CSE.2Semester.ClassA" may have n
number of sub divisions (or groups) in them based on some criteria. It
means that there would be duplicate slots in that schedule if we
consider just the schedule as a whole (An user will not have duplicate
slots). Meaning that there might be two or more slots for a particular
time period for a schedule (one for say tamil-class-batch and one for
hindi-class-batch). If that is the case we can't map a user just to an
AttendanceSchedule but to the individual slots. Am I right?

Basically,
1. AttendanceSchedule is a container that contains AttendanceSlots.
2. There would be a separate AttendanceSchedules for a staff and a
   student
3. There would be a mapping for an user to a AttendanceSchedule.

(2) in turn can have multiple AttendanceSchedules such as
"Student.CSE.2Semester.ClassA", "Student.MECH.4Semester.ClassC" etc

Is my understanding right?

it.

     1. An AttendanceSlot should define a time-period in the

     2. No two AttedanceSlots in a given AttendanceSchedule may overlap

     3. An AttendanceSchedule is a sequence of AttendanceSlots. An
AttendanceSchedule may cover a region of time (eg: Semester,
        Year, etc).
     4. There may be empty regions within an AttendanceSchedule (as in
not covered by a particular AttendanceSlot)

There can be multiple such AttendanceSchedules. However, a user will be
attached to only one such AttendanceSchedule.

I am not expecting the user to define an AttendanceSchedule. I am
thinking more in the lines of generating the necessary
AttendanceSchedules based on things such as "time table", "college
calendar", etc.

The AttendanceRecords should be referred from different containers. Each
container for a different set

AttendanceSlot/Period?

1. Date
2. who/which
3. reason/comments

(2) can be a staff or a subject right? In that case that also has to be
generalized.

Is there any other properties for AttendanceSlot other than the above?

Now, if the AttendanceSlot is the only place where we get hold of
information on date and the database is ZODB. How can we aggregate the
information for a particular person, I mean to calculate his attendance
percentage or to get the list of absent days etc.
