There is autosize, which is nice until you deal with a varchar(2000)

Ben,
SQuirreL saves all queries/SQL commands in the History as they are executed. Don't blame the screwdriver that it is a bad hammer!

So how should SQuirreL know what columns settings to use? By SQL? You are, supposedly, data analyst; can you imagine a data structure that can be used for that? I routinely use SQL commands that run into several pages of the text - how unwieldy are you willing to make the settings to satisfy your wish? And what if you changed something in the command, e.g., added or changed WHERE clause or ORDER BY clause? Do you expect SQuirreL to analyze your SQL commands to distinguish between this changes and changes in the structure of the result?
Be careful what you wish for - you may end up with Microsoft Windows ;-)

After a later restart all the previously entered SQL commands in the SQL pane/tab are vanished.

Is there a way to tell SQuirrel to remember all current SQL commands and automatically re-show

No, I don't want to save them explicitely/manually. The save should take place automatically!

2.) Similarly I adjusted the column widths in the "Result" tab of a previously executed SQL command.

After a close session resp exit and restart all the columns widths are initially much too wide.
All my customized column widths are forgotten.

Can I somehow tell Squirrel to automatically rememeber the column widths and re-adjust the columns in each result tab
accordingly?

Thank you

That would be platform-dependent. Check your DBMS SQL syntax
documentation.

Generally speaking, no, it's not likely. The easier it is to automate
destroying things, the easier it is to accidentally destroy things you
don't want destroyed.

Again, platform-dependent. However, Squirrel does provide metadata
(schema) information on one of the tabs. Look there. I don't know if that
includes FKs, I'm not in a position to check at the moment.

Regarding the DROP TABLE command one more question:

Is there an advanced DROP command which allow me to enforce a drop a table WITH all depending objects?

Or is this not possible because I always have to specify this already at creation time e.g. with a

CREATE TABLE .... ON CASCADING DELETE;

option?

How do I find out which objects (INDEXES...) depend from a TABLE?

This is where I find the option in v.3.2.1.

<pre>Thanks Marcin. I wasn't sure what the difference between the App and

I tried using db2admin, both with the password I changed it to have in
Active Directory and the default of db2admin; I also tried the
Administrator userid/pswd. I realize this is not strictly a Squirrel SQL
Client issue, but I'm new to both it and DB2 for LUW. I'm more used to
DB2 for i.

Hello Peter,

I'm not sure that app driver even works well enough or it is updated.
Around here (big blue) everybody I know is using net driver.

IBM DB2 Net Driver
example url: jdbc:db2://&lt;server&gt;:&lt;6789&gt;/&lt;db-name&gt;
website: http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/db2

extra classpath contains: db2jcc4.jar, db2jcc_license_cu.jar

class name: com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver

Above settings have worked for me for every 10.1 instance I worked with.

<pre>Hello All,
I've been using Squirrel SQL for about 9 months now to access Sybase databases and I'm generally very happy with it, but one aspect that
would really improve things for me is the display sequence of tables in the Object tab.
At our installation all of our databases are configured as case insensitive but the Squirrel SQL seems to adhere strictly to case sensitive, thus giving me
two completely separate lists to work with - e.g. tables with the names of Order and order_items are not adjacent to each other in the list.
Is it possible to make the table lists case insensitive?

I've asked this before and not had a reply - can I assume from that that this is not possible?

The problem in your DDL script is the name of the index.

Regarding your DROP instruction, the problem is that you have referential
integrity constraints on that table. The table is a parent in the
constraint, so you cannot drop it.
You should learn a bit on referential integrity to understand what's going
on. Basically, you have a link between one of more child table and a parent
table, so that some of the data in the child tables depend on the data
present in the parent table.
When you create those links, you can specify to the DBMS what it should do
when someone tries to invalidate the link (e.g. by deleting one row in the
parent table). You have various possible actions;</pre>

<pre>

That is how it behaves for me with all the database platforms I use it
with. A blank line is a delimiter, and it only executes one block of SQL
as delimited by blank lines.

This can be annoying when you load an SQL script from a file and forget
this limitation, or if you accidentally hit RETURN once too often in the
middle of a query... :)

Be *VERY CAREFUL* of accidentally inserting a blank line before the WHERE
clause of an UPDATE or DELETE query... :(

Squirrel will execute the code preceding the cursor if it's on a blank
line after text (e.g. so you can type a query, hit [ENTER] reflexively,
then hit [CTRL]-[ENTER] and it will still execute the query you just
typed), but if your cursor is on a single blank line between queries, I'm
not sure what happens - I usually separate queries by two or more blank
lines to make selecting them a little easier.

I've *never* seen it execute from the cursor to the end of the file
regardless of blank lines like you describe.

I don't know why it wouldn't b</pre>

<pre>Strange - when I do this, only the statement where the cursor is is executing (but I end all my statements with semicolon as well).
When I do not use blank line to separate statements, all are executed.

<pre>Assume I have various SQL statements entered in the SQL editor pane.

They are all delimited by a blank line.

When I put now the cursor onto lets say the 3rd SQL statement (out of 5) and press the "run" icon in the toolbar
then all SQL statements from cursor position downwards are executed.

How can I let Squirrel only execute ONLY the SQL statement under the current cursor position (until the next blank line) and stop
then?

How can I let Squirrel execute ALL SQL statements on pane regardless of the current curosr position?

Ben

<pre>Is it possible to change the font (size, bold, fontfamily) for the SQL scripts?

If yes: how exactly does it work? I foudn no global preference for that.
