<pre>We currently use MRBS for our library to book study rooms. It works
quite well, and they are fairly happy with it. However, they would
really like it to be more usable on mobile devices. With the number of
rooms they have, the grid is either excessively tiny or requires
excessive scrolling on a small display like a phone.

My understanding is that there isn't currently a mobile view or skin for
MRBS. Our librarian pointed me to the mobile interface released by RIT,
but that's really a completely separate application that just happens to
dip its fingers into the MRBS database, and I don't particularly want to
go that route.

We don't really have the resources to develop a fully separate mobile
view/skin, but I was thinking of adding a handful of simple features
that would be useful for both regular browsers and mobile browsers and
allow easier access for mobile browsers.

First, there doesn't appear to be any way to generate a view for one
room for one day; you can get one room for a week, or one </pre>

you still get the problem. There have been hundreds of bug fixes since

<pre>Dear MRBS developers,

May I introduce myself I am Alex Owen a professional Linux SysAdmin and
sometime FLOSS patch writer.

I have recently performed some work on my MRBS install updating to version
1.4.9 and changing the authentication mechanism I use to:
 $auth['session'] = 'remote_user' ;
 $auth['type'] = 'none' ;

I won't bore you with the details but I need the user "guest" to be treated as
if they are not logged in. I have done this by patching session_remote_user.inc.

I include 3 patches with this email all against MRBS 1.4.9:

Patch 1 is simply a re-factoring of session_remote_user.inc.
I would request that you consider incorporating this patch into MRBS.

Patch 2 is the addition of the "guest" mode I spoke of earlier. You will see I
use a new global configuration variable so that the username "guest" is not
hard coded and my be of use to others in a similar situation in future.
I request you also consider incorporating this patch.

Patch 3 is simply the sum of patches 1 and 2 should that prove </pre>

I don't use LDAP for auth for MRBS, but a quick look at the code seems to
say that you can still hard code admins in the config.inc.php file. Which
may help you temporarily. eg

 $auth["admin"][] = "foo";
 $auth["admin"][] = "bar";

To gives users foo and bar admin access.

Also looking at the code it looks like you want to define

 $ldap_admin_group_dn

to be the DN of the group in your LDAP that your MRBS admin users belong
to.

Other than that, all I can suggest is that you have a look at the code in
auth_ldap.inc yourself.

<pre>For user authentication I used a table that contained user/pw hashed with md5 to
authenticate MRBS users. The table was created by phpBB in a prior version. Then
phpBB, in an upgrade, changed the password hashing function to use the phpass
method.

My hosting server's php version supports this method since new phpBB forum
users' passwords are correctly authenticated, but when I changed the auth line
to $auth['db_ext']['password_format'] = 'crypt'; the MRBS authorizing function
does not work when using the updated user table.

Is there anything else I could try to get the phpBB user table to work for
authentication? --Thanks.

This should work as long your PHP/OS combination have Blowfish support
in the PHP crypt function. If you happen not to have Blowfish support
you'd have to plug in phpass (or something similar) support into
auth_db_ext.inc

auth_crypt.inc won't help as this is for a password _file_ using crypt,
and has the same requirements on the crypt() function.

Need help for MRBS LDAP Admin Login

<pre>Dear MRBS staff,

We are using your MRBS software for long time and using db to login to
application.
We changed our login according to LDAP system. But we cannot be an
administrator user now after this change.

Can you please help us about how to define a user with admin rights into
LDAP?

Thanks in advance,
Regards,
