Does it happen to any of the other config files, or just the
SlingAuthenticator.config ?

Try adding a logging configuration, stopping and starting the tomcat instance.

<pre>I just noticed that config files stored in {sling.home}/config are
purged when I
restart the server that the Sling WAR archive is hosted on.

If I for example add authentication requirements in the authentication
service
I can see that the SlingAuthenticator.config file is created in
config/org/apache/sling/engine/impl/auth but when I restart the server
the file
is removed and the settings are lost. The folders are still there though.

Is this a bug or is it a feature and if it is a feature how is it disabled?

After talking with Justin, we decided to impersonate the session with the new user but that breaks down if the impersonated session is closed before the User is returned. Taking the conversation to dev&lt; at &gt;sling to figure this out.

<pre>SLING-2465 outlines that when creating a user (self-registration=true) as
an anonymous user, an NPE is thrown because the anonymous user can't see
the newly created user and the User is used to set the path on the
response. In talking with Justin, I've created a patch[1] to impersonate a
session with the new user but closing the impersonated session in
createUser(..) creates a problem of using the returned User ("This session
has been closed."). Does anyone see a nice way to get around this? I can
think of some terrible hacks but no one wants that. :)

Summary: Installer Integration Tests might fail since they have dependencies on org.apache.sling.installer.factory.configuration 1.0.5-SNAPSHOT
                 Key: SLING-2482
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SLING-2482
             Project: Sling
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Testing
            Reporter: Pontus Amberg
            Priority: Minor

The Installer Integration Tests project will fail to build on a system with an empty Maven repository since there's dependencies on org.apache.sling.installer.factory.configuration 1.0.5-SNAPSHOT and the current trunk contains 1.0.7-SNAPSHOT.

I'm not sure but I think it can easily be fixed by updating the installer.configuration.version property in /sling/installer/it/pom.xml

The problem here is the JCR session is bound to the `anonymous` user and that user can't see the user that is created. We could use the submitted `principalName` instead of using user.getID(). I assume the two are the same but I need to check if this okay to do.

That's a good idea. I'd also like to see the jcr:content attribute names
prefixed with jcr:content in the event properties.

You can't not deal with the details of JCR sometimes :)

Former is easier on our projects, but latter is more "correct".

I see this NPE showing up without forwarding to /system/userManager/user.create.html but going directly to it. `createUser(..)` is returning a null object. The user is created as shown by subsequent create-calls that return with "user exists." I'm digging into why this is happening.

    curl -F:name=reader -Fpwd=ourReader -FpwdConfirm=ourReader -F"desc=Read only access" http://localhost:8080/system/userManager/user.create.html

The exception is not shown in the logs. It comes back as part of the response.
